Mount Airy Ace Hardware

Not the cheapest place around, but it's where I go every time I have a project that I need advice on. Friendly staff who actually knows their products and and happy to help. Gary in particular has been great to work with on a couple different projects.

Wasted multiple trips trying to get a new car key from this store. Some of the employees, mainly in the back room, are very unprofessional (ignoring waiting customers while socializing). Only one person handles replacement keys and he was extremely hard to connect with (countless times spent on hold, other employees not knowing where he was, saying he was busy when he really wasn't there, saying he would call back yet never getting a call back). After multiple failed attempts at having a key cut, I'm forced to go to the dealer for a replacement after all. Would not recommend this service from Ace or this location in particular.

Helpful staff. Good selection. Just a little pricier than most places

We went here for some bolts we needed. I wanted to support a small business, so we can here. It was our first time, and we didn't know we needed to put the price on the bags. Donna checked us out, I felt she was rude and condicending when she told us we did it wrong. We would have gladly gone back and gotten the prices if she had told us where they were (under the lids... we didn't see them the first time). But she just leaned all over the counter and apologized to the associate for having to get the prices. We went and did it ourselves and then checked out with Pat, who was delightful and sweet. Overall, they had what we needed, and we are happy with the store, they had more of a selection for bolts then we thought they would.

The employees are amazing. It is easy to find someone to help if you have questions. The store is well-stocked. Randy the paint dude is a huge help. The cashiers are very friendly.
